This was originally published June 14, 2010 on Facebook as a Note. But I publish it here, to help tell about my faith journey.

I have not written a note in about a month, but I was re-reading the following today and it sets heavy in my heart. The words are longer than a general post, but more important the words carry tremendous weight, and I hope they spark discussion.
The Preacher’s Task
Our calling is not an easy one. It demands something more than academic training. Our business is to help mold men into the image of Christ by the power of the Gospel.
This work demands strong character and courage. But above all it demands the ability to exercise and rightly proclaim the Word of God in a bold yet loving manner. Indeed, to face a man or an entire congregation and preach the whole Gospel requires a genuine love and resolute moral courage.
Such is not always an easy or pleasant task. Yet, it is that work of God which brings the greatest of rewards: The salvation of men’s souls.
